Identity and Design by Faye & Gina, Website by Tristan Bagot.
Introducing two connected graphic identities for Stereo Image and Pierre Rousseau, designed by Faye And Gina.
These identities for 2024 are detailed in a « Graphics Standard Manual », of which the slides below are an extract. Their purpose is to visually translate the distinction between a personal practice and a commissions office, whilst affirming their natural interdependence.
Phase 1 : These two identities expand on the typographic design and grid system established as early as 2018, and used on the website pierrerousseau.info, designed by Faye And Gina and developed by Tristan Bagot. The acronym APATO stands for ‘Applied Processes And Techniques Office’.
Phase 2 : The initial grid system evolves through alternative scaling, echoing a desire to abstract from systematic thinking and restrictive timing within the music itself.
Phase 3 : The grid system becomes fluid and three-dimensional, emphasising an expanding interest in sound as an interactive, explorable object.
Phase 4 : Research expands to traditional visualisations of “volume” and “resonance”.
Phase 5 : This investigation leads to further interpretations of time and space, as well as abstract representations of “vortex”.
Phase 6 : The exploration of spherical geometry is influenced by Buckminster Fuller’s dome structures, and their impact on the aesthetics of early computing.
Phase 7 : The definitive ‘Pierre Rousseau’ pictogram is a “vortex” applied to the original grid system from 2018, symbolising a evolution of both perception and purpose.
Phase 8 : The Stereo Image pictogram refers to an eye and speaker, illustrating the office’s expertise in augmenting visual experiences through sound. Both pictograms share the same gravitational pull, emphasising the interdependence of the practice and the office.
Phase 9 : The final Stereo Image logotype is inspired by the design tropes of the service industry and “one-stop shops”.
